You see it turns out that The Dollmaker is none other than Dr. Bumby, a high-ranking member of society who is using hypnotherapy to make kids forget some of his crimes.

And these crimes comprise of selling children into prostitution and burning down an orphanage after Alice's sister spurned his sexual advances. It's a truly shocking moment that feels so cruel that it stands out as a huge talking point in the game. We'd figured the twist was about Bumby murdering Lizzie, but to then reveal a twist around child slavery and prostitution? Talk about a gut punch.
