8 More Optional Superbosses Who Totally Destroyed Players

7. The Forgotten One - Castlevania: Lament Of Innocence

Lament of Innocence is a Castlevania game that never gets enough love, and when it's competing against Symphony of The Night and Dracula's Curse you can sort of understand why. However, one thing that does stand out from Lament is that it has one of the hardest bosses in the entire series tucked away as a meaty and deadly secret for players to uncover.

The Forgotten One is described as a man-made monster, meaning that at some point a group of very foolish people decided it would be a great idea to build a monstrous meat puppet in their basement. While the design might be more stock than stocking your stock racing car full of oxo stock cubes, the battle itself is incredibly tough, not because of the moves the monster unleashes - which are telegraphed more than a WWE move called by John Cena - but because of the incredible damage they unleash.

It's almost a battle of anti-reactions, requiring the player to react not to the raising of The Forgotten One's arms, but to the sudden swift moment of the downward strikes, each of which has splash damage. It might not be as hard as some of the other bosses on this list, but it'll sure make you lament every defeat this big bad crushes you with.
