8 Most Brutally Violent Video Game Moments Of 2017 (So Far)

5. Ghost Recon: Wildlands' Surprisingly Detailed Deaths

At first glance the violence in Ghost Recon: Wildlands isn't anything special. For the most part the game has you pulling off headshots and taking people down with brutal stealth kills just like in any other open-world shooter, never shoving anything too violent or brutal in your face.

However if you do find yourself investigating the casualties of your war against the cartel you can discover some genuinely horrifying results. Even though they're never spotlighted, the detailed wounds of these bodies that you riddle with bullets are horrific when viewed under a microscope.

The mangled victims of grenade kills are particularly unnerving to view up close, while the dead bodies of cartel victims that are strewn around the map act as horrific reminders of who you're up against.

The most disturbing thing about Wildlands' violence however is how flippantly the game treats it. You'd never notice the horror you're causing unless you stop to check the enemies up close, but once you do you'll think twice about about using C4 the next time you storm an enemy stronghold.
