8 Reasons To Be Excited About The Nintendo Switch 2
2. Nintendo Are TRYING To Avoid Scalpers

We live in uncertain times when it comes to the release of just about anything and it’s a bad time for Nintendo to release a much sought-after piece of hardware when they’ve historically been pretty bad at meeting demand.
Whilst they tried to assuage this with promises of simply producing more, in the wake of the Nintendo Direct there was a simple plan to try and avoid the consoles being swept in on by online vultures and listed on eBay for four times the price.
There’s a few checkboxes to hit - having a Nintendo Switch Online account, being the head of a family group, and having a "certain amount of time playing purchased or paid Switch games”. This might seem silly, and like jumping through hoops, but it’s a hell of a lot more than most companies do. Take from me, a Pokemon card collector in 2025.
After all, the Switch 2 should surely first go to those who actually want it and want to play it, and what better way to do that than look at play states? For those of us who want the console and haven’t touched our original Switch since Tears of the Kingdom, that’s going to sting but it’s hard to argue that it’s a heck of a lot better than scalpers ruining it for everybody.
This process is far from perfect, but it’s nice to see a company thinking about this and trying SOMETHING.
