8 Recent Video Game Mechanics That Absolutely BOMBED

5. A Good - But Pointless - Stealth Mode - Werewolf: The Apocalypse

One of my biggest pet peeves in games is when a title with no allusions to stealth drops a "hide and sneak" mission into the mix without warning, mainly because there's usually a reason that the title in question avoided pushing this as a core mechanic from the off aka they normally suck.

However when it comes to Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the stealth sections included are surprisingly decent, seeing you take on a Wolf Form in order to slink behind guards in order to snap their necks, crawl through small spaces and use your heightened sense in order to detect movement patterns and other dangers.

It's just a shame then that the game completely undoes all of these efforts to create an immersive stealth experience with the other side of its furry coin, namely that the player can at nearly every given occasion turn into a monstrous ten-foot-tall werewolf and rip throats out of goons like they were an obsessive larynx collector.

What's the point in wasting ten to fifteen minutes sneaking about when you can just slam some hairy 'roids and turn your foes into jam in mere seconds? It's such a shame as the stealth mechanics are one of the few real positives about this game but are rendered completely and utterly pointless by its bland action options.
