Halo 4 was released in the fall of 2012, so assuming a two year development cycle, Halo 5 should be released this year. Not so fast, ntkrnl says. Halo 5 isnt coming out until 2015 and some other Halo products will fill in the gap (Ill get to those later). Could this be true: Definite possibility Halo 4 was 343 Industries first game and its safe to say they dropped the ball hard in some areas. While the game sold 8 million copies, today the multiplayer community is only in the tens of thousands. In fact, there is a huge thread on NeoGAF full of graphs showing how badly Halo 4 shed its multiplayer community. While increased competition from Call of Duty and Battlefield certainly hurt, Halo 4s multiplayer balance issues and 343is slow response to those problems probably hurt Halo 4 a lot more. Microsoft cant be happy about that, especially when Halos their major money maker on the video game IP front. So delaying the game to make sure 343i learns from its mistakes and can handle keeping a multiplayer game balanced makes sense. Theres the chance that Microsoft will announce Halo 5 anyway on E3, but I dont think its likely.
