8 Retro Video Game Consoles You Should Definitely Play In 2020
3. Xbox
Much like Sony’s Playstation, Microsoft’s first foray into the home console market in 2002 was a master stroke on their part.
With upwards of 25 million systems sold, the Xbox was a powerful machine with an impressive catalogue of games, which laid the foundations for the industry giant to build on in the years to come.
£30-50 buys you a serious system for hardcore gamers, with graphics far superior to its rivals and its built in hard disk a first for home gaming consoles.
Onto the games, you cannot discuss Xbox without mentioning Halo. Both the original Halo: Combat Evolved and its beloved sequel titled - you guessed it - Halo 2, are the absolute pinnacle of first person shooters, setting the bar very high for both single and multiplayer action.
In addition to the Halo games, spending anything between £1 and £15 online can see Doom 3, Fable, various Splinter Cell titles, or the excellent Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay delivered to your front door.
In terms of playing these amazing titles, the original “Duke” controller was, let's be honest, massive. The redesigned “S” controller may be the weapon of choice for most players, but it doesn’t really matter which you get with your Xbox system in 2020 as they are both excellent options.
