8 Times Video Game Developers Publicly Insulted Their Players
1. Randy Pitchford Tells Multiple Fans To 'Eff Off
The unofficial king of argumentative tweets and online rants, you'd think that Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford would conduct himself with a bit more professionalism, considering that, y'know, he's the head of a mega-corporation and all. But nope.
In recent years, he's come under fire for retweeting a video of a kitten being pinched by a crab, took up arms against Game Informer for a "s****y clickbait headline" (it wasn't), and seems to think that anyone who wants to have a serious discussion with him is just moaning like a child.
He's also been known to explicitly tell fans of his games to F off, which is quite baffling behaviour to see from the leader of a company. Following the news that the upcoming Borderlands 3 will be a timed exclusive on the Epic Games store on PC, players who were looking forward to purchasing the game on Steam were understandably left disappointed - and when they voiced their concerns at Randy, he had some rather colourful words for them.
He told one user to "f*** off, troll", and another to "go f*** yourself", even though the users in question didn't insult him first, or anything of the sort. Since Pitchford is the CEO, there isn't exactly someone who can reel him in for his comments, either. The guy definitely needs some PR lessons...
