They said it couldn't be done.
We said it VERY loudly in 2001 when Eurocom tried to do a Crash without Naughty Dog, and we only repeated ourselves with every failed attempt to continue the Orange Marsupial without the watchful eye of that same veteran studio.
Crash Twinsanity was the most enjoyable, but with Mind Over Mutant and Crash of the Titans bombing both sales and fan reception-wise, it seemed Crash was down for the count.
12 years passed without a new Crash game, until - powered by a remake collection reminding generations old and new that Crash gameplay was something to be treasured - we finally got a brand new Crash title that is a genuine great.
Developer Toys for Bob clearly carried across all the lessons they learned releasing the N. Sane Trilogy, but they went one better - getting in touch with ex-Naughty Dog team members to make sure the feel and humour of Crash was spot on.
The results speak for themselves, and It's About Time lives up to its name in every respect.
