8 Tiny Gameplay Tweaks That Changed EVERYTHING

Now it might seem a little strange calling a mechanic which sees two monsters the size of several modest houses stacked upon one another knock the shingle out of each other a "tiny" change, but Monster Hunter World's most defining gameplay tweak really did spring from a stupidly simple question.

That question being "what if two different types of beast that you're hunting actually met one another?"

In prior games, this problem wasn't really addressed, with the largest beast usually ignoring all other lifeforms as it focused on trying not to become a new pair of boots for the player while also trying to kick their face in at the same time, yet World introduced the breathtaking concept of Turf Wars, wherein should an alpha predator meet another, they might engage in a tussle of epic proportions.

It was simply breathtaking to see fanged favorites split the earth apart as they body slam each other, to the point where you might be tempted to watch this Kaiju Wrestling Federation play out from the comfort of a pop-up deckchair.

However, you might want to stay out of the splash zone because it turns out that some of these tussles can result in what's known as a "Bond Attack" where they actually work together by accident to produce a move that might one-shot your whole group!

Still, with this one tweak the term "big game" didn't just apply to the creatures you were hunting as the depth of the title also shot up to huge heights.
