8 Video Game Characters You Should NEVER TRUST
1. Eric Sparrow - Tony Hawk's Underground
And so we come to the number one spot, and while there were many video game characters who scrabbled to stab you in the back there was, for me at least, a clear winner (read: utter loser) of the bunch.
Eric. Goddam. Sparrow.
Honestly, THUG 1 had no right putting in a villain of this caliber in this game, as Eric was such an unexpected sh*theel that he took the world by storm. Smarmy, smart-mouthed, and quick to anger there was always an underlying tension between Sparrow and the player right from the off. Even though they were meant to be childhood friends, it was clear that Sparrow was looking to fly the nest however he could no matter the cost.
From the moment he fails to sign you up to the opening contest you just knew something was off, and as the narrative unfolds it's clear his jealousy and desperation to be recognized have consumed him, setting the stage for a cathartic comeback for the player after he steals your spotlight.
He might not kill anyone and his motives are much pettier than your average villain, it makes his arc so real and relatable. We've all lost friends due to their own selfish ambitions and we'll learn to be careful with who we trust.
