8 Video Game Monsters That Were Absolutely Terrifying (Until You Saw Them)
4. Slender Man - Slender Man
Ever since Freddy Krueger brought the surrealist idea to the mainstream, certain people have found horror in the idea of elongated fingers or other protruding digits (calm down at the back).
Thus, Slender Man was born, a perfect horror character for any developer on a budget. And why? Because his whole 'thing' is, you can't look at him. The character only advances when you're not aware of him, you see, meaning the game excelled with fright-fans as the second they happened upon him, the game would flick to static and bam, they're satiated.
For the rest of us that didn't sprint out the room though, Slender Man has always looked just that wee bit too daft. He never actually does... anything really, and providing you're always looking at him, nothing happens. He's obviously done very well with Youtube streamers, but as an up-close character model, Slender Man poses about as much of a threat as a sentient packet of noodles.
Although, maybe that is quite scary...
