8 Video Game Sequels That Went TOO FAR
1. Arm Spirit (Arcade)
Ok, so before I begin this entry, I do have a clarification to make.
Technically speaking, Arm Spirit is not actually a sequel, as it was made by Atlus back in 2007 for Japanese arcades and doesn't have any ties with any other franchise.
HOWEVER, it is most definitely a spiritual sequel to the almighty Arm Wrestling arcade game released in the late 80's. Now I say this with no real proof nor that much conviction, however, when I tell you the reason why this game went too far, I think you'll forgive me.
For you see, Arm Spirit, the arcade game which let you arm wrestle a mechanized hand against incredibly tough opponents went too far by literally snapping the arms of three players.
I think that when a game can actively destroy those playing it that things have officially gone "a little bit off the deep end" and thus it wasn't long before Arm Spirit was pulled from arcades.
Oh but not before a really gross statement was made by an Atlus rep who said "even women should be able to beat it” and were only removing the cabinets as a precaution not an admission of guilt that their game, once again, broke the arms of those that played it. Maybe the name Arm Spirit was rather apt as it was sending forearms to heaven on the reg.
