8 Video Game Side-Quests That Were Better Than The Main Story

5. Whodunit? - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Now to be honest I wanted to originally but the entirety of the Dark Brotherhoods' questline from Skyrim into one entry, but seeing as I've just pulled that trick with Yakuza I best play it safe or the internet police will get me locked up.

Therefore I had to wrack my brain as to which of the deliciously devilish side missions offered up by the Assassin's Afterschool Club would be my pick, and then it struck like a dagger in the back, of course, it had to be Whodunit?

This is basically a murder mystery mini-game, except here instead of trying to solve the murder, you are the murderer.

Now while it's very much possible to walk in there and light the place up with a few arrows to the knee (god that meme just never gets old does it?) the true goal of the mission and indeed the only way to earn the full reward, is to kill all of the party guests without anyone figuring out you're behind it all. With a little bit of timing, a hefty dose of crossing your fingers, and of course a silver tongue to talk your way out of suspicion "Whodunit?" becomes a laugh riot of a side mission that you will yearn to play again on subsequent runs.

Plus the Night Mother's Blessing that you get for completing this mission in a stealthy manner applies a buff to a tonne of your skills making this the quest that keeps on giving!
