8 Video Game Side-Quests That Were Better Than The Main Story
6. The Silver Shroud - Fallout 4
While I'm sure a lot of the writing staff of Fallout 4 will be rather miffed with this entry, I think it's fair to say that when it came to the main narrative of the explosive RPG, things were more than a little muddled.
Key moments were rushed, main missions were often nothing more than exposition dumps, and the final payoff as to the true location of your son while being surprising was quickly overshadowed by the fact that there were far more engaging story threads just waiting to be found in the Wasteland.
Plus let's face it, pulling Dad Duty was a distant second to becoming the living embodiment of an in-world superhero.
Ever since Fallout 3 introduced us to the Mechanist and The Antagoniser, I'd wanted desperately to play as a larger-than-life vigilante of the very violent vistas of an irradiated United States, and thanks to the Silver Shroud Questline not only would you be able to don the flowing trenchcoat of justice but also wield the slightly unsubtle Tommy Gun...of Justice!
Traveling from location to location and delivering lines of dialogue to confused crooks, creeps, and cannibals made for a hilarious experience, as did finally earning the ability to upgrade the costume with buffs and better damage resistance, meaning you could legitimately take this show on the road and pursue a much more meaningful crime-fighting storyline while Shaun just twiddles his thumbs wondering when you're coming back from the shops.
Deadbeat Dad? More like Dead-Beating the piss out of CRIME!
