8 Video Games EVERYONE Got Obsessed With
7. Five Nights at Freddy's

Five Nights at Freddy's is a towering testament to the fact that personality goes a long way, and no matter how rough around the edges a game might be, if it's got fun vibes and compelling lore, it can go far enough to get its own hugely successful movie adaptation.
The original horror game was solo-developed by Scott Cawthon for a mere pittance, but was quickly latched onto by prominent streamers, with Markiplier's stream of the game two days after release amassing a staggering 122 million views to date.
The jump scare-driven horror and lack of gore made it appealing to a large swath of gamers, who even if they didn't play it themselves, were busy watching streamer reaction videos and discussing the series' eerie mythology.
Its overnight success led Cawthon to swiftly produce a glut of sequels and spin-offs, all of which have helped grow Five Nights at Freddy's into what's genuinely one of the most iconic horror properties of all time, video game or not.
