8 Video Games From The 2000s That Deserve A Film Adaptation
1. TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
Quirky, charming and story-driven, it's strange that this revered video game series has yet to be adapted into a motion picture.
TimeSplitters, and more specifically TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, has all the elements needed to succeed in virtually any type of media adaptation. The third entry in the series focuses on Sergeant Cortez, as he attempts to travel back and forth between the past and future, in order to save the world from the threat of the titular alien race.
Future Perfect is the best option to be made into a Hollywood film. This is because the cohesive story always manages to keep audiences entertained throughout the zaniness of each specific era Cortez finds himself in. The game's humour as well isn't unlike that of today's meme culture, which makes the shooter appear to be well ahead of its time (pun intended).
With a director like Taika Waititi at the helm, this IP would flourish. His past work on What We Do in the Shadows and recently Jojo Rabbit is the perfect foundation to build a TimeSplitters film on, in regards to the sheer absurdness of Cortez's adventures.
Get someone like Vin Diesel on board for lead actor, and you're away. It's time to split.
