8 Video Games That Resolved Important Movie Plot Threads
5. The Final Part Of The Original Trilogy - Ghostbusters: The Video Game

This technically isn’t a plot thread Ghostbusters ties up, but instead a narrative that is so good, many consider it to be the actual third instalment of the original series.
And trust me, people have been calling for a third film for ages - one that sadly can never come to pass with the death of Harold Ramis, and Bill Murray swearing off the project time and again. Here though, in the 2009 game, we not only get a brilliant story which details haunted mansions rising out of seas of slime, possession by ethereal gods and just a damn fine-playing title in itself, but we also got a glimpse into aspects of the original films that weren’t used for whatever reason.
For example, you can learn more about the history of the librarian ghost, and even get to see Gozer's originally intended final form, in the guise of Ivo Shandor, a spectral figure in a business suit.
Honestly it’s an absolute treasure trove of odds and ends, and was made with such love and care that it’s easily one of the best video games based on a movie property you can buy.
