8 Video Games That Reward You For Not Playing Them
2. Battlefield 2142 Dished Out Bonus Points For Not Playing
Long before the trailer for Battlefield 1 absolutely crushed the trailed for the new Call Of Duty game there was Battlefield 2142, a futuristic game in the series set in the twenty-second century. Like most of the Battlefield titles the game was multiplayer focused, and attempted to promote the creation of a strong online community.
In an attempt to lessen the gap between players who could sink dozens and dozens of hours into the game and those who simply couldn't because of other commitments like jobs, families and social lives, Battlefield 2142 actually offered bonus points for every twenty-four hours a player wasn't in-game. In theory, this was supposed to boost lower players higher much quicker.
These bonuses also included points multipliers, which makes you wonder whether there wasn't some strategy to not playing for twenty-four hours if you were a brilliant player. Waiting a day then jumping back in with a two or three times points bonus might not have been such a terrible idea.
