8 Video Games That Reward You For Not Playing Them
1. World Of Warcraft Multiples XP (And Technically Gave Away Free Money)
One of the simple ways that MMORPG World Of Warcraft tries to entice players back is by dishing out "rested" XP. If a player logs out in an inn or capital city they'll build up rest, which means that when it comes to killing mobs you'll earn a significantly higher amount of experience points.
This means it's always valuable to consider when you won't be able to play the game for a decent stretch of time, so that you can position your character accordingly before logging off. A player can actually plan their breaks from the game in such a way as to accumulate up to ten full days of rested XP, which is a considerable amount while levelling.
Not only that, but the game also technically offers players free money for not playing for an extended amount of time. This comes in the form of a Scroll Of Resurrection, which is sent to players who have been inactive for a prolonged number of months. Sadly, the Scroll Of Resurrection has now been retired by Blizzard (likely due to already dwindling numbers and the desire to earn a profit while the game still has a sizeable player base). Still, it enabled those who hadn't played in a long time to play the game free for a certain amount of days or weeks without having to purchase a subscription.
