8 Video Games With The BEST Game Overs

4. Failed QTE - Spider Man

We've all experienced an out of nowhere death thanks to the dreaded "Quick Time Event" trope. Just when we thought it was safe to put down the controller during a cutscene and have a quick bite to eat or just relax and watch the incredible action on-screen BANG! PRESS X TO NOT DIE! FALLING ROCK! EXPLODING BABY CARRIER! DOG!

It's enough to leave you with a sense of anxiety playing most games, where taking even the smallest break could lead to your untimely demise! However, some games definitely have some fun with this concept, enough so that you don't mind being dealt a death for how ridiculous the whole thing is. Spider-Man 3 for example has an absolute field day with failure and at nearly every turn will provide the player with a funny animation whenever Peter Parker misses a timed swing or attack.

However, hands down the best, and much meme'd I might add, QTE failure comes when Spidey tries to save a hostage who is strapped to a bomb. He darts across the roof, leaps over debris, spies the target, leaps aaannnd....fall flat on his face while the woman cries "I don't want to die" before exploding. The sheer speed of these events makes it utterly hilarious despite the horror that poor women must have been facing. Still, at least Spidey didn't have to live through these embarrassing events.
