4. Nier: Automata
Now the camp is going to be split a little on this one, as on the one side you've got to accept that you cannot possibly understand what Nier: Automata is about on a single playthrough, such is its intense intertwining details and story elements, but on the other hand, can you even count each characters playthrough as being "New Game Plus" content when so much of it is unique to that protagonist? Is it not just one game split into three chapters?
We're going to argue the former here today as the credits after each segment are designed to make the player feel like the respective journey is complete, but let me tell you, what a journey it is.
Each time you think you've got an understanding of Nier: Automata, the rules, and even game changes, sweeping you off your feet in the process. New enemies are introduced, new revelations are plonked on your lap, and come to the end of things, you'll be left with some rather startling revelations that put all of the efforts you've just invested into question.
Is this is a war that will never end? What is the purpose of our character's existence? Is the game really asking me to delete my actual save game data? To be honest even after all of this you might still leave the experience with more questions than answers.
