8 Video Game Easter Eggs That Will Make You Sweat

Most gamers who grew up squinting at murky little Gameboy screens have very fond memories of 8 Bit graphics and blocky tunes. In fact, no matter how orchestral or grandly certain Pokémon themes are performed, most gamers of a certain age will still hear the tinny Gameboy version at its core every time.

So it’s probably a good thing that Game Freak decided to hide a very special key item in the DS remakes of the excellent Gold and Silver. A Game Freak sound designer in Celadon city will give you an app that instantly changes the DS soundtrack to the Gameboy soundtrack. It’s note for note perfect and will take you back in time with glee as you hear that chippy battle music .

To get your hands on it, you need to have beaten all eight gyms in Johto, and the eight in Kanto (that’s 16 in total, Maths fans). A tall order, perhaps, but, if you really want to be the very best that no one ever was, you might as well get on with it.
