8 Ways Video Games Make No Sense (And We Don't Care)
1. Kiryu "Doesn't Kill" - Like a Dragon
It's often said that Kazuma Kiryu, the original protagonist of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise, has never killed anyone - a sentiment seemingly shared by the games and therefore by most fans.
But this flies in the face of so much of what we see throughout the games - most notably in story terms, Kiryu causing surely-fatal explosions while shooting at vehicles in Yakuza 0's car chase sequence.
Gameplay-wise, players can perform debilitating Heat actions against enemies, such as piledriving them into the pavement, which would likely cause death or brain damage in the very least.
And then there's weapons, with Kiryu able to wantonly use katanas and guns against enemies, because why the hell not?
But sure, Kiryu never killed anyone, whatever you say.
Granted the whole "Kiryu never killed anyone" shtick is basically a meme that's just grown out of control at this point, but there's also no denying that the games seriously downplay the number of lives he's taken over the course of the franchise.
But we all love Kiryu, so who gives a hoot?
