Thankfully, time has been mighty kind to Obsidian.

Where once it felt like they were being tossed other franchises to sequelise without the associated credit of originating them - both Fallout: New Vegas and KOTOR started with Bethesda and Bioware respectively - these games have gone on to amass far more positive reputations.

KOTOR II in particular is not only worth playing because time has healed the "wound" of it not being developed by Bioware, but because 2012 saw a HUMUNGOUS "Restored Content" fan patch fix the mistakes of a hurried development.

Where Obsidian and co-developers Aspyr were ran into the ground by their publishers, 8 years later, everything from lost story threads to armour sets, an entire planet to character dialogue trees was put back in.

Alongside a recommendable, darker story that feels more worthwhile in light of how much the movie side of things F'ed everything up, Aspyr followed up with an official patch in 2015, adding 4K and 5K support, support for controllers, widescreen and 37 new achievements.

Now, if only someone would do this for Star Wars: Bounty Hunter.
