5. Donkey Kong Country Is A Banana Wars Allegory

Alright, alright, so we all like to think that the Donkey Kong games are just about apes and bananas, but
this well-researched fan theory says otherwise. The Banana Wars revolved around the US besieging a number of countries over...bananas...The theory begins by suggesting that the game's villain, King K Rool, is a thinly-veiled allegory for President Roosevelt's pillaging of these countries, while the broken railways in the levels could be said to reflect America's destruction of the rail systems in each country it had finished its "business" with. Furthermore, levels depicting soldiers bearing strikingly similar insignia to US soldiers paint these characters as exclusively harmful, while the levels therein also often heavily polluted. Near the end of the game, references to oil begin to creep in, and let's face it, when you think of an imperialistic state trying to take all the oil, who do you think of other than the US?
