7. A Fallout 3 Ending That Actually Makes Sense

Nothing worse than having an open world game end without letting you further explore, but Fallout 3's didn't even make any sense.

Manufacturing a totally forced "... and he gave his life so we could live" ending, Bethesda climaxed Fallout 3 with you being "the only one" who could enter an irradiated chamber and turn on a water purifier.

Such a thing would've been totally fine... if not for the completely-immune-to-radiation Super Mutant friend Fawkes who was standing right next to you. Why couldn't he just leap in and do the necessaries?

Because video games, and because Bethesda somehow hadn't thought of this incredibly obvious alternative to sacrificing yourself for no reason. Understandably the community were a bit... miffed, to say the least, and it would take until April 2009 for Bethesda to release a workaround.

Thing is, EVEN THEN they didn't release the ending we all wanted for free. Instead, it was bungled into paid Broken Steel DLC - a new piece of content that also let you nominate a follower to activate the purifier instead.

On the one hand, yes, we got the ending, but on the other... Bethesda literally made people pay for something they should've included at the beginning.
