Apex Legends currently has a single map and a single mode, but despite that, the game still has a big secret for fans to uncover.

Within the flurry of hype surrounding its record-breaking launch, a number of players started posting online about a message they'd spotted in the game's kill feed: "A Nessy Appears". This obviously sparked whispers of a giant sea creature lurking off the coast of King's Canyon, and it didn't take long before players found out that this rumour was true.

Nessy won't spawn without a bit of work, however. To actually see the enormous beastie, players must traverse the game's map and shoot ten miniature Nessy models hidden in various areas. This is no easy task considering both the map's size and the damage dealt by the ring when it shrinks, but by shooting the final model in the Swamps region and waiting a few seconds, the full-sized Nessy will rise out of the water in a majestic fashion.

The creature won't attack you and it can't be killed, but it's a strangely beautiful, peaceful sight considering all the death and mayhem happening on the rest of the island.
