9 Reasons This Console Generation Will Be Dominated By PC

4. Console Sized PCs Are Here

For a long time, size was major black mark for PCs. Being able to fit parts into a small case wasn€™t a priority for a lot of manufacturers. Not only that, but sticking powerful parts into smaller and smaller packages meant that heat became an issue, as everyone learned when Xbox 360s started red ringing. So PC cases mostly stayed the same: stereotypical towers that would look a bit out of place in the average person€™s living room. But thanks to PC parts getting smaller and more efficient, plus Steam€™s push to get PCs in the living room, you can buy or build a powerful gaming PC about the size of an Xbox One thing to keep in mind, though, is the fact that you€™ll need to do a lot more research before buying parts for such a small system. For example, the Raven RZV01 shown above has severe limits on the size of parts, especially when it comes to cooling the processor. Some parts might also be more expensive than similar ones for larger systems. However, if you feel like building your own console sized PC is a bit too much for you, two Steam Machines pre-built PCs might work better for you. Starting at about $500, iBuyPower and CyberPowerPC€™s Steam Machines are great for people who want to get into PC gaming and are used to consoles. The only problem is that n release, Steam Machines will come with a Linux based operating system, which means most games coming out now and in the past won€™t work. You€™ll have to spend some amount of money, whether on reddit Softwareswap or elsewhere, to get Windows.
