9 Times The Wii Remote Speaker Actually Improved Gameplay
5. Wii Party: Animal Tracker
It's not without good reason that Nintendo first party games feature heavily on this list and not just in the form of headline-grabbing franchises like Mario and Zelda. Nintendo have arguably always been king of local multiplayer and the hilarious Animal Tracker proves their quirky inventiveness still remains strong within the company.
Wii Party's Animal Tracker utilised the Wii Remote speaker(s) by having up to four players/remotes placed on the table in front of the players - preferably stood vertically.
A number of animals would appear in a line up on-screen and one would step forward, take centre stage and make its noise. All of the Wii Remotes would then repeat that animal's noise, plus all other animals on-stage simultaneously.
Cue a frantic dash to identify and collect the right remote emitting the right animal noise. The winning player would then collect their point by clicking their Mii with the right remote.
It sounds quite simple but get a group of friends round and the results can be astonishingly competitive. The first player to find the remote three times in a round wins - a best of three, if you will.
Great fun from an oh-so-simple idea.
