9 Times The Wii Remote Speaker Actually Improved Gameplay

6. The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Simple sounds here as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was, of course, a launch title for Wii back in the mists of time a.k.a. 2006.

Certain combat effects were played through the speaker such as sword swipes, twangs of your bow firing arrows and Midna's giggle. (Bear in mind this was 2006 and nobody had ever put a speaker into a wireless controller before.)

The twang of the bowstring was quite decent as you'd pull the remote back from the screen to mimic pulling a bow and so, generally speaking, it would be at the right level to hear it. The sword swipes became tiresome after a while and some players opted to mute the speaker altogether.

Midna's giggle actually had some gameplay attached to it, though. Used during the Wolf Link sections, you'd have to Z-target her and Wolf Link would leap to a platform or ledge she had teleported to. A minor feature, but still less annoying than the never-forgotten C-button prompt of: "Hey, listen!" from Navi in Nintendo 64's Ocarina of Time.
