Just like in the game it borrowed so liberally from, it's the mindgames you can use to your advantage in Fortnite that mark out the great players from the good ones. Something as simple as whether a door is open or not is a huge deal in the multiplayer shooter, and trolling players can abuse even that to set ambushes, goad enemies into traps or scare off players looking to nab some easy loot
It's the wackier mechanics that often result in the best instances of trolling though. For instance, hiding in plain sight in bushes became such a popular tactic that the devs introduced the ability to use a portable bush as cover to move around the world while blending into it.
It's a tactic straight out of Wile E. Coyote's playbook, and it can be an amazing way to make enemies terrified of pretty much any bit of foliage that could have a player hiding inside.
