What You Wanted: Twisted Metal

Honest to Christ, Twisted Metal back in the day was such a blast, the comedy and car based car-naaarj was just something that appealed to a young Jules, and yes I was way too young to have been playing that but then again my dad also let me get Resident Evil 2 which gave me actual night terrors for weeks...so yeah thanks Steve.

Anyway Twisted Metal was a glorious example of murder over matter, but only if you were a PC or PS1 owner as the N64 players out there well they were twisting all right but it was their controllers in anger at not being able to play this gem. What they got instead though was Vigilante 8, a graphically superior but somewhat less personal game.

In almost every other area though, the games trod the same ground, allowing you to blow anything and everything to kingdom come, yet while Twisted Metal tried to have some semblance of story, Vigilante 8 instead went down the arcadey route.

Did this make it any less fun to play? HELL NO. In fact, such was the love for this game that it got a fresh coat of paint on the 360 a while back and was a brilliant way to get some bumper to bumper action going.
