9 Video Games You Played Because You Owned The Wrong System
4. Castlevania 64
What You Wanted: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Ok, serious question: Have you played Symphony of the Night? If not, please remedy that immediately. It is a calculated and brilliantly executed game that will act as a vampire on your time, sucking it all away.
The art style is phenomenal, as are the liquid smooth controls, meaning that you truly feel like walking the knife edge between victory and defeat at nearly all times. In short, it’s an exhilarating experience... and now I have to talk about Castlevania 64.
This was no clone of Symphony of the Night, firstly because it was 3d but also because it never COULD be. This game was meant to be something to placate people who missed out on arguably the best game in the series, but pretty much delivered one of its worst.
Put plainly the tech just wasn’t up to par at this point in time; The gameplay relied too much on unnecessary platforming and the camera was an abomination of game design that fought against you at every single moment, not that you’d want to actually look at the enemies because they looked like something you’d scrape into a bin after a meal.
