9 Videogame Characters Who Were Punished Far Too Severely

6. Half Life 2 €“ Gordon€™s Pro-Littering Stance Means A Deathly Beating

Half-Life - Rubbish The Half Life series (well, two games) are renowned for their excellent opening sequences, and Half Life 2€™s Welcome To City 17 was just as effective as Welcome To Black Mesa (yeah, you heard). The whole thing existed to make it clear that you lived under an inter-dimensional jackboot where individuals are rounded up and shot for colluding against the Combine. Yet according to this opener, the Combine classes refusing to pick up litter with the same sort of punishment they keep for enemies of the state. The moment comes when you€™re midway through your tutorial, and a truncheon-wielding guard demands you pick up a can and throw it away. If you don€™t do this, he will beat you to death, and believe me, a lot of people know this. Yes, I was one of the people who tried to get past him, but there€™s just no way you get round the environmentally-sound beating meant for you. This man just really loves the environment, and he€™s more than willing to turn you into compost if you don€™t share the same enthusiasm. As deaths go, it€™s heroically embarrassing.
