9 Ways Assassin's Creed Odyssey Is Dividing The Fanbase
3. Faction Wars & Large-Scale Battles
Onto another all-new feature. AC: Odyssey is set to be split up into 27 different areas, all governed by various meters and factors, ranging from influential figureheads to specific quests you'll have to complete to take them over. It's much like Shadow of Mordor/War's Nemesis System, and that... is part of the problem.
Shown at E3 was our main character wading in on the front lines, amassing stupidly high body counts like it was Dynasty Warriors.
Like every other combat-focused point here, this isn't a bad gameplay implementation on its face - it's a strange inclusion for an Assassin's Creed game.
The last time AC tried to do anything close to "factional warfare" it was Revelations' godawful strategy minigame where you had to place units in specific spots and defend from incoming attacks.
This part of Odyssey will likely be good fun - as attacking and capturing Strongholds in Shadow of War was too - but... does it belong in an Assassin's Creed game? Answers in the comments.
