9 Ways To Make A Truly Amazing Spider-Man Game

1. Dual Life As Peter Parker

For all his schoolyard charm, Peter Parker is a deeply relatable figure, surrounded by everyday inconveniences and understandable tragedy to boot. He's just a normal guy, with all the social problems, acne and math homework we had growing up. It's Peter's iconic struggle with power and responsibility that continuously holds a mirror to comic fans, fundamentally reminding us that we only control our own actions. Peter Parker puts the "human" in "super-human." This character-defining struggle has never been given much weight. We want narrative design and gameplay to tackle Peter Parker's most poignant themes together. Living two lives should be part of the game, juggling your schedule as Peter and Spidey and watching them effect each other. We don't want some binary mechanic of simply racking-up experience points as either identity, but rather, we wish to feel the effect through character relationships and the state of the city. We'd have to make choices as to what to do with our day - whether to run a few errands and take a few photo jobs from Jameson or follow-up on some detective work and make our rounds around New York. If you were to ignore a passing siren, the cops could take care of it, but people might die and the front-pages on newsstands might read "Where's Spider-Man?"... with a picture you took, no less. For the first time ever, we want to quick-change from Peter's civvies to Spidey's spandex... whenever we want! You better find a nice spot to do it. Don't want anybody seeing your bits or finding out who you really are. No matter who you're dressed as, Spider-Man's powers should always be available, but if you're not careful, bad guys could temporarily recognize you on the street. Our pitch: One part GTA, starring Peter Parker with powers, and two parts grown-up, new-gen Spider-Man, like we've never seen him before. What do you think? Would any of these changes stick? What are your favorite Spider-Man games and what elements would you most liberally steal from other titles to craft the ultimate, virtual Spider-Man experience?

Real Science Magazine called James' addiction to video games "sexually attractive." He also worked really hard and got really lucky in college and earned some awards for acting, improv and stand-up, but nobody cares about that out here in LA. So... He's starting over fresh, performing when He can. His profile picture features James as Serbian, vampire comic Dorde Mehailo with His anonymous Brother and Uncle at the Nerdmelt Showroom in West Hollywood. In James' spare time, he engages in acting, writing, athletics, hydration, hours of great pondering and generally wishing you'd like him.
