After Assassin’s Creed 3: 10 Historical Periods Ubisoft Should Visit Next

5. Medieval England

A huge period of time, covering a lot of important historical moments and important developments in British civilization, the Middle Ages would represent a rich tapestry of opportunities for Ubisoft to bring a new Assassin's Creed title. From the Norman conquest of Britain in 1066, through Civil War and the loss of Normany in 1202, the Black Death and Great Famine, through to the Hundred Year's War and the War of the Roses, the period would offer ample opportunities for strong, appealing narrative backdrops for an Assassin's Creed story. And that is exactly the point of Assassin's Creed - to play out a conflict between two parties (in this case we could have the Normans and Saxons, or warring English forces) in a historical backdrop that serves the story without overwhelming it. England in the Middle Ages would provide exactly that sort of backdrop, and a wealth of important historical figures to bring into the story. Technological and military advances over the period would also mean the evolution of combat gameplay, which would offer depth and variety in a series of titles.
