Animal Crossing: New Horizons - 10 Things We Learned From Nintendo Direct
3. You Can Visit Distant Islands For Rare Drops
As you play, you’ll be passively earning “Nook Miles”. You’ll get these by performing all sorts of tasks, like crafting, travelling and participating in events. This is a currency that you can use to help pay down the debts you accrue and purchase extra bonuses. Don’t worry, its not a premium currency you use real world money to buy. (And here’s hoping it stays that way.)
One of the big ticket items you can purchase with your Nook Miles are “Nook Mile Tickets”. The tickets are used to travel via Dodo Airlines for “Mystery Tours”. These are randomly generated islands with tons of rare stuff on them. If you’re looking for rare collectables (bugs/fish/etc.) or crafting materials, these islands are where to go.
You’ll also run into different characters in these islands, most likely exclusively. They made a real big deal about these islands during the Direct, so its probably gonna be a good idea to save your miles for these tickets.
