Animal Crossing: New Horizons - 10 Things We Learned From Nintendo Direct

2. There Is No Way To Back Up Your Saves (At First...)

Not all information revealed was good news, we’re afraid, and this is probably the biggest gut punch the Direct confirmed: This game will not allow you to back up your save data, even if you have access to cloud saves with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Its an incredibly annoying thing, as there’s now no way to recover your data if your Switch gets lost or damaged. And for a game like Animal Crossing? Where months or years of progress can be lost in the blink of an eye? Terrible.

However, this apparently will not always be the case. The Direct also confirmed that at some point in the future, a service will be rolled out where you can recover data off of Nintendo’s servers through alternate means. But if you paid attention to the fine print, you’ll have seen that this will apparently be a “one time only” recovery.

Seriously Nintendo? Why are you so bad at this online stuff?
