Assassin's Creed Origins Review: 6 Ups & 5 Downs

2. TONS Of Loot & Equipment

Origins' loot grind was the focus of some early gameplay demos, only to be forgotten about once all the hooplah surrounding Battlefront 2 being pay to win started emerging.

The reality is twofold, and outside of some cosmetic items being pay-to-unlock only, you'll pick the majority of gear up from enemy corpses, nab it through story missions or purchase from traders. There's even a "daily mission" vendor who drops an increasingly rare or valuable item depending on how fast you can complete the task at hand.

Thankfully, Ubi didn't go overboard with how fast these items are doled out either, as something like Destiny or Diablo tend to give you a new gun at such a steady clip you're forever switching your entire loadout, never playing to any specific playstyle.

Having a year off and providing the AC team with such a hefty budget has resulted in not a single costume or weapon appearing twice. There are seemingly endless amounts of items to unlock, ranging from mounts to bows, weapons and skins, and as they're touting this as a standout new feature, it's one of the best.
