Assassin's Creed: 10 Times The Templars Were Right

1. Stopping The Revolution - Assassin's Creed III

When disillusionment towards the monarchy began to grow in the North American colonies on the eve of the American Revolution, Haytham Kenway and his Templar Order saw their opportunity. Throwing a whole load of fuel onto a keg ready to explode, Haytham and co. were instrumental in kickstarting the revolution with the end goal in mind of creating a nation where their Templar principles would eventually become law.

Throughout the entirety of Assassin's Creed III, Haytham is almost reduced to pleading with Connor to understand that his Order wanted to bring an end to the fighting between Colonials, Natives, Assassins and Templars alike.

Haytham pointed out that it was actually Washington that had ordered the burning of Connor's village and that it had been the Templars, not the Assassins, that had been instrumental in freeing his people from slavery in the past.

Haytham again points out that both he and Connor oppose the same things: tyranny, injustice and suppression of the people. Where the two diverge is with Haytham's example of Washington's flawed reasoning and the imperfections of giving people the freedom to make errors, something which Connor reluctantly agrees is present, but hopes improves in the future.

In many ways, Haytham's dreams of a peaceful world in which people are given control and direction isn't so sinister after all.
