Assassin’s Creed 3: 10 Reasons It’s Awesome

10. Connor Kenway

I know for a fact that I€™m not the only one out there who was growing bored of Ezio Auditore; don€™t get me wrong, he was a great character, but remember familiarity breeds contempt. Connor comes at exactly the right time. And what a fantastic character he is, at once both wise and restrained and unstoppably deadly in equal measure. Next to Ezio, Connor much more of a sober character and his quest isn€™t just one of personal vengeance but of benevolence, borne from a spiritual desire to preserve his village, which sits on sacred ground (although revenge is also added to the mix, of course). Ezio was fantastic for his own reasons, but as I play through AC III, I can€™t help but appreciate the sense of gravitas and mystique that Connor adds to the tried and tested recipe, which in my eyes the series has been lacking in previously. I€™ll have to reserve my judgement on whether or not Connor is the greatest AC protagonist so far €“ I haven€™t yet completed the single player campaign €“ but from what I€™ve seen, he€™s certainly got the potential in spades. Well done Ubisoft on another home run!
