Assassin's Creed: Odyssey - 9 Future Settings Ubisoft Must Use
5. Franchise Tie-in
There is another way Ubisoft could follow Creative Assembly's footsteps. One of the newer series Creative Assembly has worked on is with the Warhammer license, venturing into fictional territory to set a game. Of course Ubisoft won't, as franchises are tightly wrapped in legal and logical conditions, but stranger things have happened.
Ubisoft actually have the rights to several franchises. They've put out Star Trek games, they use the Tom Clancy license, and they're clearly on good terms with Nintendo due to the Rabbids/Mario crossover. Mario jumps and falls a lot, in many ways it's similar to Assassin's Creed anyway...
Plausibly, it would be the Tom Clancy license that would be put to best use (running around and jumping in the USS Enterprise doesn't sound like it has much potential). The games already feature high-octane situations and the different ways soldiers deal with these, like hostage situations or political manipulation. Perhaps another method of dealing with terrorists could be jumping off tall buildings right on to them?
Alternatively Ubisoft could try to get the rights to another popular series, but with EA clenching Star Wars tightly and Shadow of Mordor basically being an Assassin's Creed game anyway, they'd have to look hard for the right franchise.
