Assassin's Creed Origins: 10 Things It Needs To Deliver

3. Multiple Cultures & Faiths

There wasn't really an 'Egyptian' culture in 49BC. Egypt was bang in the middle of the Ancient world with a Greek royal family, Roman soldiers everywhere, a huge Jewish population and various bits of conquered or allied countries thrown into the mix. The whole reason it makes such a fertile setting for Bayek's adventures is how many cultures, factions and religions all wanted a piece of Cleo's Nileside empire. Initial signs are positive on this account with a Roman presence apparent in the 'Sobek's Gold' mission, but there's plenty more the game could deliver.

This melting pot needs to be a theme of the game, since it's what makes the era so interesting. The cultural mixture of Egypt can play into the events unfolding around Bayek's murder spree. Cultural tensions defined the era, especially religious tensions, and there's nothing that kicks off an assassin-friendly bloodbath like people arguing about whose bunch of gods are the best.
