Assassin's Creed Origins: 10 Things It Needs To Deliver

2. An Explanation For The Supernatural Stuff

One controversial aspect of the gameplay reveals so far has been the presence of a supernatural element to Bayek's murderizations. He can observe his enemies from afar through the eyes of an eagle and mystically control his arrows to steer them neatly into the eye of whoever's annoying him. The Assassin's Creed series has never been a slave to realism but this supernatural business is new and would need to be explained to keep it from being too jarring.

The whole ancient technology angle hinted at in various Assassin's Creed games could help explain how Bayek is now a wizard, or the setting could represent the last vestiges of 'real' ancient magic that Bayek can access. Either way, it needs some context or Origins will start to seem less like an Assassin's Creed game and more like something else, which potential fans might balk at given how distinctive the previous series entries have been from the games that surrounded them.
