In Origins, players were introduced to new present day protagonist Layla Hussan. An ex-employee of Abstergo, Layla defected to the Assassin’s when she was recruited by William Miles where she would go on to become an integral part of the Brotherhood.

Players would go on to continue Layla’s story in Odyssey and Valhalla. But it looks like her latest assignment may have been Layla’s last.

When Layla is connected to the Isu machine, she loses the the only thing keeping her safe from the dangerous levels of radiation produced by the contraption. With no other choice, she decides to remain in the machine to aid The Reader in reading billions of possible timelines in the hope of finding a permanent solution to their world-ending predicament.

However, we know that Layla isn’t really gone. In a final message to her team, she tells them that she’s not afraid, that she has a lot of work to do, and that there’s no point in looking for her.

Since we know that Layla still exists within the world of Assassin’s Creed, could we see her return in the future? When she’s finished her work, perhaps?
