Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - 10 Real-Life Viking Legends Who Should Appear
9. Harald Hardrada
King of Norway from 1046 to 1066, when he unsuccessfully invaded England and lost his life at Stamford Bridge, battling unarmoured "with both hands around his sword" against the forces of Harold Godwinson. His death is often considered to mark the end of the viking age.
Harald was reputed to have been a very tall and powerful man, unafraid to accompany his forces into battle. He was also a talented poet, a passionate musician and a devout Christian, doing much to further the spread of Christianity in Norway.
The most interesting stories about Harald concern the time he spent in exile as a youth, travelling through Russia, battling Sicilian pirates and spending time as a Varangian Guard in the Byzantine Empire. Whether or not Assassin's Creed: Ragnarok will let us roam this far afield remains to be seen...
