Avengers: 8 Ways To Save The Game
5. Give Xbox Owners An Exclusive Character/Feature
Square Enix opened a can of worms by accepting Sony's Spider-Man exclusivity deal. Mainly, because it says to Xbox and PC owners, "You're paying the same amount of money for less content".
Now, platform exclusives are nothing new. From GTA 4's DLC being on Xbox 360 first to various Soul Caliburs having platform-specific characters, we've all been stiffed out of 100% of a title thanks to characters, items etc. being locked down elsewhere.
However, usually these things are timed or balanced between systems. At the very least it's rare a platform exclusive deal stays that way forever, and the vast majority centre more around "first access" than complete ownership.
Not in Spider-Man's case, though. Sony have paid to secure the Web-Head as they increasingly push for the character to be considered a "PlayStation hero", and they won't be letting him go any time soon.
The answer? Some sort of platform-based reward on the Xbox or PC side. If Spidey isn't a timed exclusive and other consumers literally are buying "less of a game", that should reflect in content or even a price drop outside PlayStation.
