Batman: Arkham Insurgency - 10 Villains That Must Be Included

1. Amanda Waller

David Ayer and co. may have burned the whole world out on Suicide Squad with 2016's terrible, terrible release, but that doesn't mean that Montreal should have to shelve their plans because of it.

Before Insurgency, a rumour did the rounds that the next Batman game would, in fact, be a sequel to Knight, and would feature Damian Wayne underneath the cowl. While that story looks unlikely to lead to anything solid now, it did say that Montreal originally had plans to make a Suicide Squad game, but cancelled it due to problems during the project's development.

In that case, it would look as though that nifty post-credits sequence in Origins will peter out into nothing, along with the threads established in Arkham Origins: Blackgate. If not, then we can expect Amanda Waller and Task Force X to feature in the sequel, hopefully in a better light than we've seen in recent years, and with the prospect of some truly innovative boss battles on the cards too.

Waller is just the character to include if you want to challenge a fan's perception of Batman and perhaps even super-heroics more generally. Yes, the gameplay potential is there to craft a compelling boss battle or too, but the thematic potential Waller brings to provoke the player is too great to pass up. Here's hoping that Ayer hasn't messed things up for the rest of us.
